Welcome to our new series #THENEWNEW x Our People. This is where we highlight the incredible stories of people from our community and they share what they want to see in #THENEWNEW world. From activists, founders and artists to members of our team, we can’t wait for you to meet the new faces of Vinokilo.
MEET PERRI
Perri is the Ecommerce Marketing Manager at Vinokilo and “one of the Hong Kong people”.
Here is our interview with her:
What do you want to share?
Home is where you feel like you belong, and for me, who was born in Australia will always say Hong Kong is my home, the home that taught me honesty, adherence, rule of law, rights & freedom, empathy and more, it is also the home that has been drastically changed from 2019. It changed to a place where people need to fight for democracy amidst the raining of tear gas and rubber bullets. Ridiculously, it is changed due to dishonesty, cruelty, ignorance and uncivilised decisions from the government.
The current situation may seem hopeless in lots of people’s eyes, but the past 2 years have fully shown the people’s strong desire for a future that we can write and dictate for ourselves, it showed the power of awakening, the strength of unity. All these still bring faith to us. Feels like it is irrelevant to you? That was how we felt 3 years ago looking into other places’ injustice issue. If we lose, who’s next?
What do you want to see in #THENEWNEW world?
Empathy and care.
What book would you share with the world?
Everything is F*CKED by Mark Manson.
What film would you share with the world?
The Trial of the Chicago 7.
What song would you share with the world?
Glory to Hong Kong (願榮光歸香港).
What is your favourite item of clothing?
My yellow knitted jumper from my Grandma, promised style and quality as always.

It's a declaration that Vinokilo is not willing to go back to business as usual. The pandemic has brought the global climate crisis into a more urgent frame and has highlighted fashion's role. Second hand being accessible to all, taking the past and making it new, being stylish and sustainable. That is the new normal. That is #THENEWNEW.
